Welcome!

Welcome to Vedruna Student Society!

This society is inspired on the prestigious Oxford Union Debating Society and only tries to give ESO students a taste of what a debating society is like.
As a teacher of English and former Oxford student, I think this online society is a great chance for students to practice English language in a meaningful context as well as to have a taste of English traditions and... Aren't Oxford University and the Union's debates some of the most emblematic symbols of British culture?
To become a member of Vedruna Student Society you have to be a 3rd or 4th ESO student at Vedruna Angels school. Visitors are welcome to participate in our weekly debates and vote although only members can propose discussion topics.
On a weekly basis, two members will debate on a statement proposed by the teacher. One of them will propose and the other one will oppose.
Debaters will post their arguments on this blog and members will send their votes as comments to the debater they agree with. Each vote has to be signed. There are only two types of votes: Ayes and Noes, that is, Yes (I agree) or No (I don't agree).
At the end of the week, the name of the winner will be published. In June, there will be a Grand Finale where the best debaters will demonstrate their debating skills before a real audience in school.
I would like to thank my Department fellows, Maria Carme Molist and Eva Verges, for their collaboration.
